Phlebotomy Course Description
Course follows guidelines in preparation for the national phlebotomy technician certification exam and employment as a certified phlebotomy technician. Course focuses on basic anatomy and medical terminology, infection control, and procedures necessary to appropriately collect laboratory specimens and communicate with patients.
Purpose: This course will prepare a student for a position as a certified phlebotomy technician to work in a clinical laboratory environment and healthcare setting.

Total cost of program: $ 899.00 which includes initial certification exam, background check, and textbook rental
Admission Requirements
1. Applicants must be 17 years of age or older.
2. Applicants must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
3. Criminal background check- convictions of abuse, neglect, mistreatment of the elderly or infirm, or misappropriation of a resident's property will prevent admission. (Cost included in the tuition)
7. Pass the admissions exam with an 85% or greater, first exam free, additional testing $35.
8. Submit Proof of Immunization
9. Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
• Please note: Students with non-hirable convictions, per LA R.S. 1203.3, will not be eligible to complete clinical instruction. Students may still enroll for classroom instruction but must sign acknowledgement stating they will not be able to complete the program or be eligible for certification.
