Practical Nursing Program

The Advance Nursing Training Practical Nursing program is structured over several terms, featuring comprehensive classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory hours, and supervised clinical experiences in diverse settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and long-term care centers. Additionally, our distinctive life and financial skills component enhances this nursing career preparation. This competency-based program integrates various teaching methods to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills required for safe and high-quality nursing care, addressing the holistic needs of patients. With a focus on personal development, the curriculum not only prepares students for their nursing careers but also for financial success through the inclusion of life skills and financial literacy.

Upon graduation, students will be eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-PN), a mandatory step to become a Licensed Practical Nurse in Louisiana. Graduates can look forward to employment opportunities in hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, clinics, home health and hospice agencies, as well as physician offices.

Practical Nursing Course Requirements:

- Program Length: 14 months

- Class Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm

- Program Total Hours: 1530 hours

  - Fingerprinting Fee for LA State Police & FBI: $39.25

  - Electronic Fingerprint Card (2): $20 (plus state fee)

  - LA State Board PN Examiners Application Evaluation Fee: $50

Pre-Licensing and Related Fees:

- NCLEX Registration: $200

- LA State Board of PN Examination Test Fee: $125 (plus state fee)

- Fingerprinting Fee: LA State Police & FBI: $39.25

Please ensure you read and fulfill all the requirements listed below before starting classes at Advance Nursing Training:

- High School Diploma or GED

- TABE Entrance Exam: 11.0 in Reading, Mathematics, and Language

- Successful Admissions Interview

- Negative TB Skin Test or Chest X-Ray within the last year

- Negative Drug Screen

- Criminal Background Check

- Current Immunizations for Hepatitis B, Varicella, MMR, TDAP
